Marakkar: The Lion of Arabian sea (2021)
Language : Malayalam
Genre : Historical, War
I already knew the fact from the interviews from priyadharshan that there is nothing about the story and screenplay. His confidence level was only with his making. All the people who watched from theatre expected something different but they didn't even satisfied the output which the film delivers. To me to be honest despite of all the negative review i liked the film. It's a visual treat maybe only that apart from that no emotion or even screenplay was not enough for me.
The very first impression was Pranav Mohanlal. The man who always had that fear in his face when he was infront of the camera done an absolutely amazing performance here. His acting in the previous films was very poor. But here he was completely different. As Junior kunjali he nailed it his character registered in our mind but all of a sudden change of lalettan's appearance was surprisingly not enough to built that characterisation completely. The way he speaks was okay but the poor writing again ruined everything. Awkward dialogues.
I want more screen space for
Pranav Mohanlal, but that didn't happened by the way
All the other state actors were completely miscasted. Why the director has to pick some actor's who don't even knew Malayalam for a historical movie, there were plenty of talents here. Just to get that label of Pan Indian film, he has to forcefully cast those actor's The dubbing for them is also poor. But i want to exclude Actor prabhu from that list, he was good.
The visual of action sequences were wonderful but the choreography was very poor. The sea war was also making wise brilliantly captured but again the coordination was lack in action.
As a big budget film of 100 cr priyadharshan done a brilliant job to make this look visually amazing. But script and everything let down whole the movie. But the fact that overall it's a watchable film.
